Hi, I’m Linda

Welcome to my blog, Love, Linda Jo. You’ll find stories of our life on the mission field, resources for pastors, & some life lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Land of Silence

Land of Silence

This is the story of a woman in scripture who touched the edge of Jesus’s robe and was healed. She has been sick 12 years, been to many doctors, and spent all her money. This unnamed woman fell at Jesus’s feet and told him her life experience. In Mark 5:34 Jesus confirmed her healing and told her to go and be free from her suffering . The following is a quote from the author about the scene at the well. The woman attempts to get water from the well and is rejected by a Jewish woman. A Syrophenician woman encounters her rejection and helps her.

“How have we twisted the glory of God’s precepts to such a degree that foreigners and unbelievers have grown more compassionate than people of God?”

Translate this quote for us and today’s church. I have asked myself how sensitive and caring I have been toward people who have a radically opposing belief system from me. Has my interest in their needs been active and kind? Have I been willing to be transparent and have conversations out of my comfort zone? This is an enjoyable book if you like biblical fiction. The author makes you feel as though you are present in this woman’s journey and setting.
