Hi, I’m Linda

Welcome to my blog, Love, Linda Jo. You’ll find stories of our life on the mission field, resources for pastors, & some life lessons I’ve learned along the way.

The Speed of Trust

By: Stephen M.R. Covey

This is an excellent book for growth in our relationships, growth in organizations, and growth in business. The author uses examples and applications of the trust principles in all three of these areas. My son who is an officer in the military has used this book to teach his soldiers how to be a trustworthy team member on and off the battlefield.

Stephen Covey in this book describes four kinds of trusts:
1. Blind Trust where you trust everyone
2. Smart Trust where you trust wisely
3. No Trust where you trust no one
4. Distrust where you only trust yourself

A diagnostic tool is given for Smart Trust based on a persons character and competence so you can make decisions wisely in this area.

As I have read this book I have evaluated my own past performance in relationships and in areas of leadership in a non profit organization. Then I reflected on the business area as to how I have seen myself and others treated as customers and clients.

In leadership I have experienced extending trust to people and seeing them respond well and even wanting to pass it on to others. I have also seen people rise to a challenge and achieve above an unseen potential when I extended trust to them.

Covey says “Extending trust to people brings happiness to relationships, results in the work place, and confidence to lives.”

So true. This is a read beneficial to all and a library keeper I think.
