Hi, I’m Linda

Welcome to my blog, Love, Linda Jo. You’ll find stories of our life on the mission field, resources for pastors, & some life lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Hospitality

How often do you invite people into your home for a meal or a snack after meal time? Or invite them to just talk and “catch up” about their family. I observe many people so kindly taking food to others in times of need But there is just something about the warmth of inviting someone into your home.

I realize this requires extra time, planning and a stretch of the grocery budget. This has been a life pattern in my house and my children have adopted some similar plans.

I am talking about sincere desires to be obedient to God by serving others in your home. This is the opposite of “entertaining” and having a perfect house. In Romans 12 it says “love must be sincere.” In verse 13 it says “Show hospitality.” This can be a positive display of the Christian life. If having people in your home is outside your comfort zone, give it a try knowing the scripture wants you to show hospitality however that looks for you.

International students have always been a focus for our family knowing they often can not return home on holidays. Learning about their culture has always brightened our time together Years later, after college, they have pleasantly surprised us by inviting us to their homes all over the world.

During New Testament times believers stayed close to one another by “sharing bread together regularly.

“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”
