Hi, I’m Linda

Welcome to my blog, Love, Linda Jo. You’ll find stories of our life on the mission field, resources for pastors, & some life lessons I’ve learned along the way.

The Ring

When my husband and I married, we exchanged gold bands. My engagement ring was a very simple, thin, silver band with a few very small diamonds. Upon leaving for Vietnam, Cal took that engagement ring with him in hopes of having a special ring made for me. He did just that and returned with a beautiful ring having a ruby in the middle of my keepsake, tiny diamonds, and others surrounding it. This ring became a reminder of his love for me.

Years after this, I was visiting my oldest son and family in Illinois. We were enjoying a swim with the grandsons at their friends pool. I thought i put my rings and watch on a table in the middle of a very large wooden deck. When I collected my watch and ring- the ruby ring was not there!

My grandsons thought their grand-mom had a fading memory and didn’t even bring her ring. However, my daughter in-law, Victoria, insisted we look around the deck and under the mulch for over an hour. I came back to Oklahoma and asked my friends to pray about my lost ring. Victoria, likewise, prayed and looked with a metal detector for over three months.

Then, she called me very excited one day to let me know her friend had found my ruby ring in the mulch early that morning. Their friend had sold his house and decided to look one more time for that lady’s ring!

The parable of the lost coin reminds me of how intensely Christ searches for us, how very happy the angels of God are when we are found. Likewise, we should excitedly tell our friends that we have been found.

“Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that i had lost.’

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Luke 15: 8-10
