Return to Me by Lynn Austin:

I am so touched by emotions and obedience some mothers and grandmothers had when leaving Babylon where they had been under captivity for so long. I can’t even imagine having to leave adult children and grandchildren behind with no communication or hope of seeing them in the future. Truly heartbreaking!

Their journey to Jerusalem was on foot or cart-wagons and took 3 months. Their goal of rebuilding the temple took 16 years with danger and lots of hardships along the way. They were a faithful remnant--a few who never lost sight of the vision God had given them.

Priests and trainees had to dig through rolled-up parchment to scrolls to study scripture to find out what the prophets before had said. We find it difficult to study our Bibles that are organized, translated, and very handy. I am convicted!

Most of all, it was so beautiful to be reminded of the picture and scripture in the Old Testament showing the coming of the Messiah and His Presence--His Holiness!
