Ingredients:

2.5 cups of flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

¼ cup of shortening

¼ cup of warm water

¼ cup of sugar

1 cup of buttermilk

1 pkg of dry yeast

Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup warm water and set aside. Mix dry ingredients in order given, then cut in the shortening. Stir in buttermilk, along with the water and yeast mixture. Blend thoroughly, then you can either make the biscuits right away or refrigerate the dough in a large covered bowl.

When you’re ready to cook the biscuits, turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead it before cutting it into biscuit shapes. Let the biscuits rise for a bit, then put them in the oven on 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
