Hi, I’m Linda

Welcome to my blog, Love, Linda Jo. You’ll find stories of our life on the mission field, resources for pastors, & some life lessons I’ve learned along the way.

"Why do you do this?"

"Why do you do this?"

One of the most severe droughts in our area of Kenya required a major feeding program for about two or three months until the rains and crops came again. We cooked beans and corn in huge pots! We had as many as 800 people there a day.

We organized people to stand outside the gate at noon. We took in everyone who came at noon and had them sit in groups under the trees and listen to Bible teaching until the meal was ready at 1pm. This helped us manage how many people were there and how many we needed to prepare for.

Some emotional and divine experiences happened under these trees. One day, when Cal and I were rotating from one group to another, an unusual interaction happened. In Cal’s group a blind lady spoke up in K-Tharaka and said, “Why do you do this?”

Cal answered, “When I was a child, I was hungry. I said, when I am an adult, I will do something to help people.”

I asked the blind lady to pray for me--she did, and God touched my heart.
